"Finally managed to get into the Portege league of well-trusted Toshiba brand (cash back and extended warranty offer tilted the wallet into Toshiba's pocket).....started with looking at a netbook but felt there were too many compromises. BEWARE: cosmetic finish is Silver, so the lid scratheche VERY easily despite however much care you provide (a slip case is a MUST); touchpad is ANNOYINGLY independently minded: clicks-though on its' own, swithest to-and-fro in web sites and most of all, if you are a web mail user, YOU WILL FREQUENTLY LOSE YOUR TEXT BECAUSE THE PAD WORKS ITSELF (ironically, I have had to write this review TWICE, as an example of this - VERY FRUSTRATING and there's no apparent fix on the Tosgiba web site). MS Bluetooth mouse (purchased separately) works fantastically but for on the road use, I need the touchpad to perform and I just CANT rely on it. TAKE HEED!"
